New 2018 Screen Prints - Jane Foster

Exposed silk screens looking fresh outside the studio - yet to have been used!

I love the start of each new year as I enjoy thinking up new designs for the year ahead. It's a time for change and new optimism. (despite the dark long days!) My planning usually takes place the previous November as I decide on which silk screens to stop using, which new designs need to be exposed onto them and what size images I'm going to produce.

I decided one of my new designs would be my elephant. I designed this several months ago now but hadn't ever used it for anything. I love illustrating animals, I love elephants so thought these could be a fun new addition to my other animal prints. I've really enjoyed using the elephant as a cropped image and as a repeat. 

I've also become a black and white monochrome fan the past year wanting to screen print more prints in black and white.
