Inspiring Children in Argentina - Jane Foster - illustrations

One of the highlights for me in 2019 was discovering a class of children in Argentina painting pictures using my illustrations as inspiration. I discovered the children’s artwork on Instagram as their wonderful teacher messaged me photos of the children’s work. The class has 18 children in it and they were all given black ink and paint brushes to create artwork similar to mine. I’ve included some of the beautiful paintings below alongside some of my illustrations so you can see the influences. These paintings truly moved me and I started a little dialogue with Jimena their class teacher.

I sent the class eighteen miniature sized colouring books and some prints for their wall. Here are some photos below of the children colouring in their little books from me.

Jemina, the wonderful teacher very kindly emailed me a pdf of all the children’s artwork - it was a super surprise and I was completely overwhelmed. She said they were going to create a book with all the artwork so I decided to print the images out here too to create my own special book to treasure. I made a concertina style book which you can see below.

I adored the paintings inspired by my Frida Kahlo illustration.

I can’t tell you how much pleasure this little book has given me. I shall treasure this forever.

I later received an envelope in the post from Jimena. She sent me some of the children’s original artwork which I felt so incredibly touched to receive. Here are the five A4 size paintings I received below.

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the children’s artwork. I’ve posted them fifty good quality paint brushes which I know they’ll enjoy using.
