Rosa Mug - inspired by Rosa Parks

It was when I lived in the US as a young child when I leant about racial inequality. It was years later when I was a student studying in Manchester that I joined the Anti Apartheid movement and regularly took buses down to London to attend rallies. Rosa Parks was named the ‘mother of the freedom movement’ many years earlier and to me, has remained an iconic figure representing racial equality. Her courageous act of refusing to give up her seat on a bus for a white man when ordered to got her arrested. A bold reminder of how hard times were then but sadly, also a reminder that racial inequality still exists now. 

This mug shape was created by Keith Brymer Jones using Jane’s illustration. It’s dishwasher and microwave safe. Each mug comes with it’s own tag. There are four mugs in this new collection - all four women have been influential women to Jane over the years. The mug will be posted in a strong shatterproof box.
